What is Information System?
My first Fundamental of IS (FIS) class this week (Week 1) is about introducing what is Information System. I prompt on Co-pilot on what is Information system, this is what I get. The definition is as it is. Nothing out of the ordinary. Students who attended Week 1 An Information System (IS) is a system that collects, stores, processes, and distributes information to help people make decisions, manage operations, and solve problems. It consists of five main components: Hardware – Physical devices like computers, servers, and printers. Software – Programs and applications that process data. Data – Facts and figures that are stored and processed. People – Users, managers, and IT staff who interact with the system. Procedures – Rules and methods for using the system. Example Teachers enter student marks. The system stores the data. It processes results and generates report cards. Students and parents can access the information.
