MSc Progress Update #4 - RPM

Why #4? #3 is in my rambling posts.

  1. Had a meeting today to discuss about the interviews and open coding that the student has conducted. I was a bit frustrated with the outcome. The responses are not what I expected it to be. Responses talks about anything but RPM.
  2. I don't what was the student's frame of mind when conducting this interview. The student should focus on RPM not other things. Simple. The student has RPM-Technology, RPM-Organizational, RPM - Environment. It is as simple as that but the outcome of the interview is all over the place and the response is not with RPM in mind but health digital solution, electronic health data record etc.
  3. I ask the student is WHERE IS RPM when you ask the question to the student. I told her the data that you get from the interview is not relating to RPM. To me, that is a fundamental flaw.
  4. I believe the student did not explain RPM well to the respondent. I emphasize that the explanation of RPM to the respondent is very important. Show diagrams if you have to. The interviewer should not ask anything other than RPM in mind.
  5. Second issue is about the steps in conducting thematic analysis. I am not sure her understanding on thematic analysis. She has all the time in her hands now. She should be proactive.
  6. Speaking of proactive, other things that she needs to do is writing thesis and journal paper while she is at it.
  7. One thing that I regret saying but I did say is that I don't care about quality. Well actually I do care about quality. Getting 65% in the examination means you pass and has achieved some level of quality. It might be a high quality but it is still quality.
  8. I ask student to improve the interview session.
  9. I need to share with her, what is the next step in thematic analysis.
See her next week!
